This study aimed to elucidate the treatment outcomes and the patterns of failure of SDC treated with surgery and PORT, among patients enrolled in the multi-institutional retrospective study of the Korean Radiation Oncology Group (KROG) 13-09.
In summary, the present study demonstrated that surgery followed by PORT was effective in LRC, but not in DC, in major salivary gland SDC. Optimization of radical surgery, proper RT field design based on this study’s results, and application of novel systemic agents to minimize DM would be indispensable for future SDC treatment.
